History

In 1943 a group of Westporters founded Staples Tuition Grants with a $100 donation from the Staples High School PTA, believing that all young adults should have the opportunity to continue their education beyond high school.

Tradition

By offering tuition assistance to Staples High School seniors and graduates with demonstrated financial need, STG helps students bridge the gap between what their families can afford and the cost of tuition at their chosen college or vocational school.

Today, the student need is greater than ever.

The Board of Staples Tuition Grants is made up of dedicated volunteers serving up to four-year terms. With no paid staff, the Board handles all aspects of the program, from fundraising to communicating with students and allocating grants, which are paid directly to the recipient’s institution.

DECENCY

Many Staples Tuition Grants are given out as Named Awards, established over the years to honor individuals, civic groups, foundations and businesses, with whom the mission of STG resonates.
