Anne Pollak gave her first cello solo recital at age 11 and went on to graduate from Juilliard and to perform with The New York Philharmonic. Arthur Pollak was an Austrian immigrant who received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Columbia. He held over 20 patents. Anne and Arthur moved to Westport in the early 1950s and lived here for the remainder of their lives. They both loved music, especially opera. Anne also played a harpsichord which Arthur handcrafted for her. They never had children of their own but were very close to their niece and nephew.
